**Jayden Daniels to Miss Practice After Rib Injury**
Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will miss Wednesday's practice session as a precautionary measure following a rib injury sustained during Sunday's 40-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Head coach Dan Quinn indicated that while Daniels will not participate physically, he will remain involved in team meetings. An update on his condition is anticipated after Friday’s practice.
Daniels, a rookie and this year's No. 2 overall NFL Draft pick, was injured in the first quarter against the Panthers. The injury occurred during Washington's opening drive after he took several hard tackles. Displaying visible discomfort, Daniels clutched his ribs before receiving medical attention on the sidelines. Despite attempting to resume play by throwing on the sidelines, he eventually exited to the locker room, visibly frustrated.
Relief quarterback Marcus Mariota stepped in with an impressive performance, completing 18 of 23 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns. If Daniels is unable to compete in the upcoming game against the Chicago Bears, Mariota is projected to start.
Daniels has been a crucial asset for the 5-2 Commanders, having started every game this season. His performance boasts 1,410 passing yards and six touchdowns alongside 372 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Coach Quinn praised Daniels' attitude amidst the setback, suggesting a positive outlook as the team awaits further news on his recovery.
