**Jayden Daniels Shines as Commanders Crush Browns 34-6**
Jayden Daniels continues to showcase his rising talent. Despite not hitting an 80 percent completion rate on Sunday, the second overall pick of this year's draft skillfully led the Washington Commanders to a dominant 34-6 victory against the Cleveland Browns.
Cleveland’s front seven initially put pressure on Daniels, who threw an early interception to linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah after a 66-yard heave to Terry McLaurin. However, by the second quarter, the young quarterback found his rhythm. He nailed a 41-yard touchdown pass to Dyami Brown towards the end of the first half, adding to Brian Robinson’s two rushing touchdowns and Austin Seibert’s 27-yard field goal. The Commanders ended the first half comfortably ahead, leading 24-6.
In the third quarter, Jeremy McNichols contributed with a 3-yard touchdown run, and Seibert added another field goal from 30 yards to seal the scoreline. With the game well in hand, backup quarterback Marcus Mariota took over for Daniels with 12:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Daniels completed the game with a 14-of-25 passing record for 238 yards, including a touchdown and an interception, and rushed for an additional 82 yards. Remarkably, he became the first player in NFL history to throw for over 1,000 yards and rush for at least 250 yards within the first five games of his career.
The Browns, meanwhile, struggled offensively, starting 0-for-12 on third downs and closing 1-for-13, with their only conversion arriving late in the game. Deshaun Watson, who had a rough day under relentless pressure, finished 15-of-28 for 125 yards, a touchdown, and a lost fumble. Backup Jameis Winston managed a short completion to D'Onta Foreman for the team's lone third-down success.
Adding to the Browns' woes, cornerback Denzel Ward left with a hamstring injury, long snapper Charley Hughlett suffered a rib injury, and safety Grant Delpit was evaluated for a concussion. For Washington, safety Quan Martin was examined and cleared for a concussion but sustained a shoulder injury.
Next week, the 4-1 Commanders will face the Baltimore Ravens in an away game. Meanwhile, the 1-4 Browns will continue to battle the NFC East with a road game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
