**Jared Goff Makes History as Lions' First-Ever NFC Offensive Player of the Month**
Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff has etched his name into the franchise's record books by becoming the first Lions QB to be awarded NFC Offensive Player of the Month for October. This accolade marks the first time a Lions player has taken home the award since Calvin Johnson in 2013, underscoring Goff’s stellar performance.
Goff's statistics for October were exceptional. Including his standout game against the Seahawks on September 30, he completed 70 of 83 passes, boasting an impressive 84.3% completion rate. These efforts resulted in 972 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, zero interceptions, and an outstanding passer rating of 155.0 over four games. Excluding the Seahawks game, his October stats alone were still remarkable: 52 completions out of 65 attempts (80.0%), yielding 680 yards, 8 touchdowns, no interceptions, and a passer rating of 149.8.
For the season, Goff currently ranks second in yards per attempt (9.39), second in passer rating (115.3), and first in completion percentage (74.1), demonstrating his consistent high-level performance.
Lions head coach Dan Campbell, while appreciative of Goff’s recognition, was not taken aback by the quarterback's performance. "I guess I'm just not surprised," Campbell said. "He's playing at a high level and there's so many little things that he does. We asked him to do so much, particularly on third down, and he handled it well. That helps the rest of the team and the offense perform at a high level."
In addition to Goff's honor, the Lions saw another player, Aidan Hutchinson, secure the NFC Defensive Player of the Month last month. This marks only the second instance in team history where the Lions have had both an Offensive and Defensive Player of the Month simultaneously, a feat last achieved by Barry Sanders and Ray Crockett in 1991.
