Oscar winner Jamie Foxx, 56, will finally shed light on his near-death health scare in an upcoming comedy special scheduled for 2023. The actor, who fell unexpectedly ill in April while filming "Back In Action," has kept the cause of his illness under wraps since his recovery. However, during the African American Film Critics Association's annual luncheon honoring Black excellence, Foxx announced the new show while accepting the AAFCA's Producers Award for his production company, Foxxhole Productions.

Expressing gratitude and getting emotional, Foxx shared, "I had some people in my life that really made sure I was here because it was dire straits. Everybody wants to know what happened, and I'm gonna tell you what happened, but I got to do it in my way." Foxx's health scare compelled him to reflect on life and art, leading him to cherish every minute and gain a newfound appreciation for both.

In December, Foxx opened up about his near-death experience during the Critics Choice Association's event, where he received the Vanguard Award. The actor, visibly moved, shared his struggle with mobility just six months prior, stating, "You know, it's crazy, I couldn't do that six months ago. I couldn't actually walk." Foxx refrained from providing extensive details about the medical crisis but acknowledged the tough journey he endured.

With humor, Foxx also addressed baseless conspiracy theories that circulated while he was hospitalized. Foxx's resilient spirit has impressed those around him, with his loved ones playing a crucial role in his care and recovery. The actor expressed gratitude towards his family, including his sister and daughter, for their support during his recuperation.

Foxx's recent appearance in public, looking healthy and happy, has brought joy to his fans. Although he is not yet fully recovered, sources report that he is steadily improving and feeling more like himself. Foxx is surrounded by a strong support system that ensures he doesn't overexert himself and is eagerly anticipating the right time to return to work.

The upcoming comedy special promises to provide insight into Foxx's journey through his health scare, offering a glimpse into his perspective on life and art. Fans eagerly anticipate hearing Foxx's own account of the harrowing experience that almost took his life.
