In a recent incident on Gaza's beach, Israeli troops shot dead two Palestinians and wounded another, as confirmed by the military. The incident came to light through a video that showed one man falling to the ground and a bulldozer subsequently pushing two bodies into the sand.

The military claimed that the troops opened fire after the men allegedly ignored warning shots. The origin and date of the footage remain unknown, but it was broadcasted earlier this week by the Al Jazeera television network. The video showed at least two of the three men waving white flags before being shot at.

This latest video adds to the growing number of similar clips that have emerged in recent months, depicting Palestinians in Gaza being fired upon or killed seemingly posing little threat to Israeli forces nearby. One such video in January revealed a man being shot dead while walking with a group of people waving a white flag. Another video broadcasted by Al Jazeera exposed an Israeli strike that appeared to kill at least four Palestinians walking on a sandy path in southern Gaza.

In response to the beach shootings, the Israeli army stated on Saturday that, according to their investigations, the video was edited and consisted of two separate incidents that occurred across different locations in central Gaza. However, Al Jazeera countered that the shootings took place close to each other on a beachfront southwest of Gaza City.

The video showed one man walking away from Israeli forces before falling to the ground, seemingly after being shot. He was seen raising his hands above his head, allegedly waving a white flag in the moments before being hit, according to Al Jazeera. In another part of the video, another Palestinian man is seen approaching nearby Israeli forces, waving what is said to be a white flag before moving out of camera view.

The video concludes with the bodies of two men being dragged through the sand by an Israeli bulldozer. The army claimed that the use of the vehicle was necessary due to concerns that the men may have had explosives on them. The army also mentioned that the two killed men were carrying bags, although no bags were visible in the footage. The wounded man was released after questioning, according to the military.

Al Jazeera reported that all the men in the video were attempting to return to their homes in northern Gaza, from where they had been displaced earlier in the conflict. The northern region of the territory has witnessed significant destruction since the start of the Israel-Hamas war nearly six months ago, making it difficult for aid to reach those who remain there.

Critics, including Palestinians and human rights groups, have accused the Israeli military of using disproportionate or indiscriminate force in its Gaza offensive, resulting in heavy civilian casualties. They argue that even when such incidents are captured on video, military investigations rarely result in indictments of the soldiers involved. It remains unclear whether the beach shootings will be investigated by the Israeli authorities.

According to the Health Ministry in Gaza, Israeli fire has claimed the lives of over 32,000 Palestinians since the outbreak of the conflict on October 7. The war began when Hamas-led militants invaded southern Israel, leading to the deaths of 1,200 people, mostly Israelis, and the abduction of approximately 250 others.
