**Yankees Triumph Over Mets 6-2 in First Subway Series Showdown**

The New York Yankees claimed a 6-2 victory against the New York Mets on Friday night, kicking off the first of six anticipated Subway Series games this season. Amid a sold-out crowd of 47,700 fans, the Yankees showcased strong performances on both offense and defense.

Carlos Rodón, continuing his impressive streak, secured his fourth consecutive win. Over five innings, Rodón (5-3) permitted just one run and two hits. The Mets' response came in the fourth inning with an RBI single by Brandon Nimmo, driving in Juan Soto.

Former Yankee Juan Soto, who recently signed a groundbreaking $765 million, 15-year contract with the Mets, returned to the Bronx and was met with a chorus of boos. In a gesture of acknowledgment, Soto tipped his helmet to the crowd. Despite drawing three walks, his presence didn't shift the game's momentum.

Paul Goldschmidt contributed significantly to the Yankees' lead with two RBIs, and Cody Bellinger added three hits. Goldschmidt’s run-scoring single initiated a productive third inning, which was further advanced by an error from Francisco Lindor that sent another run home. Anthony Volpe's sacrifice fly and Oswaldo Peraza's bases-loaded walk capped off the inning, ensuring a comfortable Yankee lead.

In his first major league appearance since April 3 of the previous year, Jonathan Loáisiga delivered a scoreless inning, marking his return from elbow surgery. Despite allowing a late RBI double by Lindor, Yerry De Los Santos and Luke Weaver, who secured his fifth save in six opportunities, managed to maintain the Yankees' lead, concluding the game with a flyout by Soto.

Mets’ starting pitcher Tylor Megill struggled, yielding four runs, four hits, and five walks in just 2 2/3 innings. His recent form continued to trouble him, as he has now fallen to 0-2 in his last four starts, all resulting in Mets losses.

Looking ahead, Yankees' Clarke Schmidt (1-1, 4.73 ERA) and Mets' Griffin Canning (5-1, 2.36 ERA) are set to take the mound for the second game of the series on Saturday.
