### Illinois Democrats Raise $1 Million Amid Trump’s Overnight Visit to Chicago

Illinois Democrats marked a significant fundraising success, amassing $1 million during their annual gala on Friday. The event took place merely a few blocks from where former President Donald Trump made a rare overnight stop at Trump Tower in Chicago, a city known for its strong Democratic leanings.

Security was tight around Trump Tower as Trump took a break from his campaign trail to spend the night in the Windy City. Meanwhile, the Democratic gala served as a smaller version of the Democratic National Convention, energizing attendees and urging immediate action with less than 40 days until the election.

"We are mobilizing our base, not looking to convert Trump voters," said Toni Preckwinkle, Cook County Democratic Party chair, emphasizing the strategic focus on voter turnout. "We are taking buses to Wisconsin and Michigan."

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer highlighted the critical importance of every single vote, citing the narrow margin in the 2016 election. "In 2016, Donald Trump won Michigan by two votes per precinct," she reminded the crowd.

Trump's campaign activities included two stops in Michigan on Friday, pressing voters to engage in early absentee and mail-in voting. "We have early absentee mail-in voting in your state starting this week. If you have your ballot, return it as soon as possible," he urged.

Michigan remains a pivotal battleground for both parties, a state that has flipped in recent elections. Governor Whitmer is working hard to ensure a Democratic victory, emphasizing the accessibility of voting in Michigan. "All across the state, in all counties, we are working to make sure people know it's easier to vote than ever," she said.

Following his stay in Chicago, Trump is scheduled to head to Wisconsin on Saturday morning for another campaign event.
