**Hyundai Recalls Over 226,000 SUVs and Sedans Due to Rearview Camera Malfunction**
Hyundai has announced a recall affecting over 226,000 SUVs and sedans due to an issue that prevents the rearview camera from displaying properly. This defect significantly hampers the driver’s visibility and elevates the risk of accidents, according to a regulatory filing on Wednesday. This marks the fourth recall notice issued by the Korean automaker in November alone.
In total, Hyundai has recalled 448,782 vehicles this month, including the 226,118 affected by the latest notice. So far, the company has recalled 1,108,571 cars this year, based on National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) statistics.
Earlier this month, Hyundai issued three separate recalls for other defects. Last week, more than 42,000 vehicles were recalled due to a faulty transmission that could shift out of park without the application of brakes, potentially causing the vehicles to roll away and increase the risk of crashes. Although the automaker reported no incidents involving this defect, it identified the problem during internal tests on Tucson models conducted in October.
On November 18, more than 145,000 Ioniq, Genesis GV60, and GV70 vehicles, among other models, were recalled for a damaged charging unit. Hyundai has not confirmed whether this issue has resulted in any accidents.
Additionally, on November 7, the automaker recalled nearly 35,000 Sante Fe and Sante Fe hybrid vehicles due to defective sunshades that did not meet regulatory standards.
