Hungary's parliament has given its approval for Sweden to join NATO after almost two years of negotiations. The final hurdle for Sweden's accession to the military alliance was cleared with 188 votes in favor, six against, and five abstaining in Hungary's parliament on Monday. This historic moment was celebrated by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, who highlighted Sweden's readiness to contribute to Euro-Atlantic security as the 32nd member of NATO. The two countries have reconciled their relations through a deal that will see Hungary acquiring four new Swedish-made JAS 39 Gripen jets. Following in the footsteps of neighbor Finland, which joined NATO last year, Sweden is now on the verge of becoming a member of the alliance.
