### Texans' Stefon Diggs Out for Season with Torn ACL
The Houston Texans' recent victory over the Indianapolis Colts came at a significant cost, as their standout wide receiver Stefon Diggs sustained a season-ending injury. Diggs, who went down with a noncontact knee injury during the game, has been diagnosed with a torn ACL, which will sideline him for the remainder of the 2024 season.
This injury compounds the challenges faced by the Texans' offense, which has already been operating without Nico Collins due to a hamstring injury suffered in Week 4. Diggs had become a key player for the Texans after being acquired in a trade from the Buffalo Bills in April. In his debut season with the Texans, he recorded 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns across eight games. Prior to his injury in Sunday’s game, he had made five catches for 81 yards.
Diggs' absence is particularly difficult for quarterback C.J. Stroud, who had relied on the 30-year-old Pro Bowler as a favorite target especially after Collins was sidelined. Furthermore, the timing is unfortunate for Diggs’ career prospects, as he had restructured his contract to become a free agent following the 2024 season. The ACL injury threatens to impact his availability moving into the 2025 campaign.
With Diggs out, the team will likely place additional responsibilities on Collins once he returns, as well as on second-year receiver Tank Dell. Meanwhile, backup wide receivers Xavier Hutchinson, Robert Woods, and John Metchie III are expected to see increased playing time. The Texans may also consider looking into potential trades to reinforce their roster, with Carolina Panthers veteran Diontae Johnson being one of the notable options available.
Despite the win against the Colts, the Texans face a challenging remainder of the season as they navigate these significant roster changes and try to keep their offense competitive.
