In Polk County, Texas, the community gathered on Wednesday to mourn the loss of 11-year-old Audrii Cunningham, whose body was discovered in the Trinity River near Houston after being reported missing last week. Cassie Matthews, Audrii's mother, tearfully described her daughter as "perfection" during the emotional vigil.

Don McDougal, 42, a family friend, has been charged with capital murder in connection to Audrii's death. Audrii's aunt, Brenda Cedars, reflected on the young girl's ability to light up a room and bring joy to those around her, stating that the world will not be the same without her presence.

Mourners lit candles in remembrance of Audrii, with Matthews expressing hope that the collective light would reach her daughter. In attendance was Kasey Evans, who recounted the difficult task of explaining Audrii's death to her children, emphasizing the profound impact of the tragedy.

Friend of the family, Casey Baker, shared that Matthews is deeply grieving and seeking justice for her daughter. Support poured in from the community as they gathered to honor Audrii's memory and mourn the irreplaceable loss.

Visitation for Audrii is set for Friday, March 1, in Livingston, with a rosary service and funeral to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday. The criminal investigation revealed that Audrii's body was found tied to a large rock in the river, with evidence linking McDougal to the crime scene.

As the community continues to grapple with the devastating loss of Audrii Cunningham, her memory lives on through the outpouring of love and support shown at the vigil, as they seek justice for the young girl whose bright light was extinguished far too soon.
