Classic rock band Heart has announced that lead singer Ann Wilson has been diagnosed with cancer, resulting in the postponement of the remaining dates of their Royal Flush Tour. In a statement released on July 2, Wilson revealed that she had undergone a successful operation to remove a cancerous growth and is now receiving advice from her doctors to undergo a preventive course of chemotherapy.
"I'm feeling great following the operation, but my doctors have advised me to undergo chemotherapy as a preventive measure to fully recover," Wilson shared in her statement. She also mentioned that she will need to step away from performing for a year to focus on her recovery.
The news has left fans disappointed, but Wilson expressed her commitment to return to the stage in 2025. "To the ticket buyers, I really do wish we could do these gigs. Please know that I absolutely plan to be back on stage in 2025," she reassured. Wilson's team is currently working on rescheduling the postponed tour dates and will make an announcement as soon as possible.
Sister and bandmate Nancy Wilson took to Instagram to provide an update, assuring fans that the Heart tour is still happening. "Happy to let you all know that the HEART tour is still coming your way, but we need to take a temporary pause," she stated. Rescheduled dates will be announced in due course.
Heart, known for their rock hits such as "These Dreams," "Crazy on You," "Magic Man," and "Barracuda," has faced setbacks in their tour schedule before. In May, the band canceled their European leg due to what was described as a "time-sensitive but routine procedure" that Ann needed to undergo.
Fans of the iconic rock band are sending their well-wishes to Ann Wilson and eagerly await her return to the stage. The determination and resilience demonstrated by Wilson in the face of this health challenge only strengthens the anticipation for Heart's inevitable comeback in the years to come.
