Hamilton Township Police Officer Recovering After Being Shot in the Line of Duty

In a recent incident in Hamilton Township, New Jersey, a police officer is currently recovering after being shot while responding to a domestic incident. The officer, who remains unnamed, is said to be "resting comfortably and has been up and talking today," according to the New Jersey State Police Benevolent Association.

On Friday night, the officer was taken to the hospital after the incident, which occurred in the 1800 block of Orchard Avenue. The Mercer County Prosecutor's office confirmed that the officer was injured while responding to the call. Additionally, one other person was also reportedly shot during the incident, but it remains unclear who that individual is and their involvement in the situation.

According to eyewitnesses, gunshots were heard in the neighborhood, alarming residents who were taken aback by the sudden violence. One neighbor described how they witnessed the entire incident unfold from their son's vantage point at a nearby stop sign.

Authorities have stated that a suspect fired at officers as they arrived at the scene around 10 p.m. However, no further details regarding the suspect or their whereabouts have been disclosed at this time. The injured officer was swiftly transported to Capital Health-Fuld and is expected to survive, as confirmed by the Hamilton Police Department.
