In recent revelations, voice actors and insiders involved in the production of Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) have shed light on the scrapped plans for downloadable content (DLC) that would have expanded upon the game's narrative. These insights have provided fans with a glimpse into what could have been, sparking speculation and curiosity within the gaming community.

One of the key details revealed was the existence of DLC centered around Trevor, one of the game's three protagonists. Steven Ogg, the actor who portrayed Trevor, confirmed in April that he had worked on DLC that would have seen Trevor going undercover. Ogg even referred to this version of Trevor as "James Bond Trevor," hinting at the thrilling and action-packed nature of the content.

Additionally, it was disclosed that Rockstar Games had initially planned for each of the three protagonists to have their own DLCs following the game's release. However, these plans were ultimately abandoned. Ned Luke, the actor who portrayed protagonist Michael, shared this information during a recent stream, further intriguing fans who had hoped for more story content centered around their favorite characters.

Insider Dan Houser, who worked on the game, revealed that some elements of the planned DLC eventually made their way into GTA Online. Last year, details emerged from a leak that hinted at scrapped DLCs titled "Prologue DLC" and "LibertyV DLC" in GTA Online. This suggests that certain ideas and concepts initially conceived for the story expansions found a new home within the thriving multiplayer component of the game.

While the impact of GTA Online on the cancellation of GTA 5's single-player DLC has been widely discussed, it seems it was not the sole factor. In a 2017 interview, Imran Sarwar, the director of design for GTA 5, mentioned that factors such as the development of next-gen ports, resource allocation to GTA Online, and the impending release of Red Dead Redemption 2 contributed to the decision to forgo single-player expansions.

However, Sarwar did express the possibility of future story DLC for upcoming projects, igniting hope in fans eagerly awaiting GTA 6. The mention of potential story expansions suggests that Rockstar Games may still explore this avenue and deliver narrative-driven content in their future projects.

As the legacy of GTA 5 continues to grow, fans can only wonder what could have been, as tidbits of the scrapped DLC plans come to light. Whether Rockstar Games will revisit the idea of story expansions in their upcoming releases remains to be seen, but for now, players can enjoy the countless adventures and escapades offered within the vibrant world of GTA Online.
