The Grenfell Tower fire, which tragically claimed the lives of 72 people in 2017, has concluded its inquiry with chairman Sir Martin Moore-Bick reading out the names of those who perished. Sir Martin declared that everyone who died in the fire had been failed by those responsible for their safety.

Among the victims was Mr. Gottardi and his girlfriend, Gloria Trevisan, who resided on the top floor of Grenfell Tower. Mr. Gottardi's father, Giannino, revealed that he had been on the phone with his son until the very end. Unfortunately, their communication was interrupted after Mr. Gottardi informed his father about the suffocating smoke engulfing their flat.

Gloria Trevisan managed to contact her family in Italy during the fire, conveying the terrifying reality of being trapped on the 23rd floor with Mr. Gottardi. Loris Trevisan, Gloria's father, disclosed that they had attempted to escape downwards but were met with raging flames and increasingly dense smoke.

Gloria Trevisan, an architecture graduate from the University of Venice, had moved to London with Mr. Gottardi to seek employment opportunities. Tragically, both of their remains were discovered in their flat, along with the lives of Deborah Lamprell, Jessica Urbano-Ramirez, Berkti and Biruk Haftom, and Hamid Kani.

Another heart-wrenching story is that of four-year-old Fethia, who resided in flat 203 with her parents Rania Ibrahim and Awadh Hassan, as well as her sister Hania. Sadly, all three perished in the fire. Fethia's aunt, Rasha, spoke at the public inquiry, remembering her niece's vibrant personality. Fethia's younger sister, Hania, also lived on the 23rd floor and possessed a mature demeanor for her age, even displaying occasional gestures of teenage exasperation.

Rania Ibrahim, Fethia and Hania's mother, also lost her life in the fire. Her husband, Awadh Hassan, was not present in the building when the tragic event occurred. Rania, originally from Aswan, Egypt, had moved to the UK in 2009 and married Awadh the following year. She recorded a distressing video showing the smoke invading their flat, but unfortunately, no one survived.

Awadh Hassan expressed his devastating loss at the Grenfell Inquiry, describing how his life had come to a standstill since the fire. The pain of his unimaginable grief was evident as he acknowledged that no amount of words could bring back Rania, Fethia, and Hania.

The conclusion of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry has shed light on the individual stories of those who perished, reminding us of the tremendous loss and the urgent need for accountability and justice. As the investigation continues, it is paramount that the lessons learned from this horrific incident are applied to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in the future.
