**Packers' Week 9 Injury Report: Key Players Sidelined as Team Prepares for Lions Showdown**

The Green Bay Packers revealed their initial injury report for Week 9 on Wednesday, marking the beginning of crucial preparations for their Sunday clash against the Detroit Lions. This report is the first of three scheduled updates, with the final version, including official playing status, expected on Friday.

Significantly, seven key players did not participate in Wednesday's practice. These include quarterback Jordan Love (groin), cornerback Jaire Alexander (knee), running back Josh Jacobs (ankle), center Josh Myers (wrist), left guard Elgton Jenkins (glute), left tackle Rasheed Walker (knee), and safety Evan Williams (hamstring). All seven are starters, reflecting the team's substantial injury woes.

Coach Matt LaFleur provided updates on several players, noting that Jordan Love is considered day-to-day and will spend the week preparing to possibly play, likely making a game-time decision. While Josh Jacobs missed practice on Wednesday, he is still expected to play on Sunday. Elgton Jenkins, who played through a glute injury last week, is also expected to be available. Meanwhile, Rasheed Walker, who’s been dealing with a knee injury, has not missed time so far this season.

Safety Evan Williams faced a new setback last Sunday when he felt discomfort in his hamstring before the game and subsequently left the match early. Additionally, linebacker Quay Walker, who cleared concussion protocols, was a full participant in Wednesday's practice. In contrasting updates, cornerback Corey Ballentine returned to practice in a limited capacity after missing the previous game against Jacksonville.

Defensive linemen Kenny Clark (toe/shoulder) and Devonte Wyatt (ankle) participated partially in the practice. Clark, who has been enduring a toe injury, has now added a shoulder issue to his list of concerns, highlighting his need for the upcoming bye week. Wyatt made his return to the field last week after being sidelined for three games.

On a positive note, the Packers removed several players from the injury list: cornerback Keisean Nixon, wide receivers Jayden Reed and Christian Watson, and defensive lineman Colby Wooden are all back in action.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions are also grappling with player availability. Ten Lions players missed Wednesday's practice, although five were listed under "rest" and not injury-related. Key absences due to injury included quarterback Jared Goff (ankle), left tackle Taylor Decker (chest), and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez (ankle). Additionally, defensive lineman Josh Paschal did not practice due to an illness.

As both teams navigate their injury challenges, Sunday's game promises to be critical, underscoring the impact of player readiness and management in the lead-up to the contest. Keep up with all the latest Packers developments through the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Packers Wire.
