In a setback for the Green Bay Packers, eight players were absent from the team's first training camp practice of the 2024 season on Monday. These players, including some key names, were unable to take the field due to various injuries and contract issues.

Starting quarterback Jordan Love was notably absent as he awaits the completion of a new contract. This absence raises concerns about his readiness for the upcoming season. Love's absence also opens the door for other quarterbacks on the roster to showcase their abilities during training camp.

Another significant absence is second-year wide receiver Jayden Reed, who sustained a toe injury during a recent football camp. Although the Packers believe the injury is not serious, the team will closely monitor Reed's progress as they hope to have him back on the field as soon as possible.

Tight end Tucker Kraft, recovering from a torn pectoral, is also unable to participate. However, there is some optimism within the Packers organization as they believe Kraft is ahead of schedule in his recovery process.

On the defensive side, veteran cornerback Corey Ballentine finds himself on the physically unable to perform list due to a hamstring injury. This setback raises questions about his availability for the upcoming season and leaves the Packers with some concerns in the secondary.

Rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd suffered a hip injury, further hampering the team's backfield. The extent of Lloyd's injury and his expected recovery timeline have yet to be disclosed.

Safety Kitan Oladapo, a rookie recovering from offseason toe surgery, is also sidelined. Although progress has been made, Oladapo still needs to overcome a few hurdles before returning to the field.

Furthermore, offensive tackle Caleb Jones and offensive lineman Donovan Jennings have also been placed on the physically unable to perform list due to hamstring and knee injuries, respectively. Their absence during training camp raises questions about the team's offensive line depth.

While these absences are certainly concerning for the Packers, it should be noted that training camp is just beginning, and there is still time for these players to recover and join their teammates on the field. The team will be closely monitoring their progress in the coming weeks as they prepare for the upcoming season.

As the Packers look to build upon their previous successes, they will undoubtedly hope for the swift recoveries of their injured players and resolution for the contract situation so that they can have a complete roster for the 2024 season.
