After much anticipation, a new report from Kotaku reveals that the release date for Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) may be pushed back from the initially announced 2025 release window. Rockstar's current goal is to have the highly anticipated game in players' hands by early 2025, but production difficulties have caused delays, leading to the possibility of a late 2025 or even early 2026 launch.

While Rockstar has not made any official changes to its PR rollout plans for GTA VI, the report indicates that release date decisions are typically made at the last moment within the company. This uncertainty has left fans wondering if they will need to wait longer than expected for the next installment of the popular open-world franchise.

To ensure the timely completion of the game, Rockstar has mandated a full-time return to the office for all employees. While the official reason is stated as security and quality-assurance, some employees fear a return to the demanding crunch culture that plagued the development of previous Rockstar titles, such as GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2.

The official description provided by Rockstar for GTA VI highlights their commitment to creating immersive, story-driven open-world experiences. Set in the state of Leonida, the game promises to offer players an expansive and visually stunning evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series, taking them to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond.

As of now, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 in either late 2025 or early 2026. However, with the recent production delays and the potential for last-minute decisions, fans are left wondering if this release date will stick.

The wait for GTA VI continues, and fans will have to remain patient as Rockstar works towards delivering the highly anticipated game.
