In a recent announcement, Google revealed exciting updates to its Circle to Search gesture, enhancing the feature's functionality and expanding its availability to more devices. The Circle to Search gesture, which allows for quick content search by scribbling or circling on your screen, now includes translate support, making on-screen content translation easier than ever before.

To trigger the new way of searching, users can long-press on the home button or the navigation gesture bar, and then scribble or circle on a subject to retrieve more information about it. Previously, this feature offered options to copy or translate text, but the process could become tedious when dealing with larger quantities, such as translating PDFs or all text on the phone's screen at once.

With the addition of translate integration, Circle to Search becomes even more useful. Once the feature rolls out, users can simply tap the translate shortcut next to the search bar in Circle to Search. The phone will automatically detect the language of the on-screen content and convert it into English or the specified language of the user.

The translate support in Circle to Search will significantly speed up workflow for those frequently working with foreign language documents and PDFs. It will also make translating foreign language content in images a much easier task.

Furthermore, Google is expanding the availability of Circle to Search to more devices. Initially launched alongside the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in mid-January, the feature was limited to the Galaxy S24 and Pixel 8 series. However, with the March 2024 Feature Drop, the Pixel 7 lineup gained support for the gesture. Now, Google is bringing Circle to Search to more Pixel devices, including the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, and Pixel 7a. Additionally, the feature is set to arrive soon on the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet.

Samsung users will also benefit from the Circle to Search gesture, as the upcoming One UI 6.1 update will bring support for the feature to the Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold 5, Flip 5, and Tab S9 series. The update is expected to roll out later this week, providing Samsung users with the convenience of Circle to Search.

While it remains uncertain if Circle to Search will become available on non-Pixel and non-Galaxy devices in the near future, a footnote in a Samsung support document suggests that it may potentially expand to other devices by October.

With these updates, Google continues to improve the user experience by providing innovative features that enhance productivity and convenience. The Circle to Search gesture, now with translate support, offers users quick access to information and streamlined translations, creating a more efficient mobile browsing experience.
