In the lead-up to the highly anticipated 2024 NFL Draft, rumors are swirling regarding the New York Giants and their potential interest in quarterbacks. According to ESPN's Dan Graziano, UNC quarterback Drake Maye appears to be "the Giants' guy."

The Patriots have reportedly not been impressed with the offers they have received for the No. 3 overall pick. However, an ESPN report suggests that the Giants and Vikings have been the most active teams in talks with New England about acquiring that selection. If the Commanders select Jayden Daniels at No. 2, it is believed that the Giants would be highly interested in trading up to the No. 3 spot to secure Maye.

Interestingly, there is also speculation that the Giants may consider Washington QB Michael Penix Jr. with the No. 6 pick they currently hold. ESPN reports indicate that the team has shown potential interest in Penix. However, rumors suggest that the Giants are not as keen on Michigan's J.J. McCarthy, an assertion backed by three national reporters including NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah, The Athletic's Dane Brugler, and Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

The Giants' interest in quarterbacks stems from their need to secure a reliable option as their current starting quarterback, Daniel Jones, is recovering from a torn ACL and is entering the second season of a lucrative four-year, $160 million contract. However, the team does have the option to part ways with Jones after next season at a reasonable cost. Cutting Jones after the 2024 season would result in a manageable $22.2 million dead-money charge for 2025.

As for the top picks in the draft, USC quarterback Caleb Williams is widely expected to go first overall to the Bears. The Commanders and Patriots are also projected to select quarterbacks at No. 2 and No. 3, respectively. LSU's Jayden Daniels is highly regarded as a top-three selection.

To bolster Jones' confidence, the Giants may opt to select a wide receiver with their No. 6 pick. Potential options include LSU's Malik Nabers and Washington's Rome Odunze, as Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr. is anticipated to be off the board by then.

While these rumors and speculations are subject to change and should be taken with a grain of salt, the Giants' interest in Drake Maye and the potential quarterback moves ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft have certainly caught the attention of football enthusiasts.
