In preparation for their second preseason game and the looming announcement of the 53-man roster, the New York Giants have been active in the player market. The team recently completed a trade with the Dallas Cowboys, sending veteran defensive lineman Jordan Phillips across conference lines.
As part of their efforts to strengthen the roster, the Giants also made several signings. Running back Joshua Kelley has joined the team, providing depth and versatility to the backfield. Additionally, two safeties, Raheem Layne and Jonathan Sutherland, have been added to the Giants' defensive unit.
In order to make room for these new acquisitions, the Giants have made some corresponding roster moves. Defensive back Jalen Mills has been released from the team after being placed on the non-football injury list. Furthermore, defensive back Elijah Riley has been moved to the injured reserve list.
The Giants have been proactive in their pursuit of talent even before the regular season begins, as evidenced by their actions during the 2024 NFL Draft. The team selected linebacker Darius Muasau, running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., tight end Theo Johnson, cornerback Dru Phillips, safety Tyler Nubin, and wide receiver Malik Nabers, addressing various positions and adding depth to the roster.
In other news, the Giants Foundation 5K and Kids Run, presented by Quest®, is set to take place soon. Participants will have the exclusive opportunity to run alongside Giants Legends and contribute to a worthy cause. Registration is currently open for those interested in participating in the event.
As the Giants gear up for their upcoming preseason game in Houston, these roster moves and signings reflect the team's commitment to building a competitive and well-rounded squad. Sports fans will be eagerly watching to see how these new additions contribute to the team's success on the field.
