The San Francisco Giants have made significant roster moves to address their catcher position, which has been plagued by injuries. With both Patrick Bailey and Tom Murphy on the sidelines, the Giants have taken steps to strengthen their depth behind the plate.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Giants announced that they had selected the contract of catcher Jakson Reetz from Triple-A Sacramento. Reetz's promotion comes ahead of Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, highlighting the team's urgency to solidify their catching options.

Unfortunately, Tom Murphy's injury woes continue as he has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left knee sprain. The gloomy conditions on Saturday night contributed to Murphy's injury, adding to the team's mounting concerns.

To bolster their pitching staff, the Giants have recalled right-handed pitcher Daulton Jefferies from Triple-A Sacramento. Jefferies returns to the major league squad after two challenging outings, having struggled with a 17.36 ERA in his limited appearances in Orange and Black.

In a corresponding move, the Giants have designated reliever Mitch White for assignment. Acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays on April 20, White struggled to find his rhythm, recording an 11.81 ERA across 5.1 innings for San Francisco.

The injuries to Bailey and Murphy have left the Giants in a precarious situation, with their backup catcher also sidelined. Bailey was placed in the 7-day concussion injured list on Saturday after sustaining a head injury from a foul tip off the mask during Friday night's game. The team called up catcher Blake Sabol from Triple-A Sacramento to temporarily fill the void.

With the addition of Jakson Reetz, the Giants are hoping to alleviate the strain caused by the absence of Bailey and Murphy. Reetz's inclusion in the Major League roster is a testament to his abilities behind the plate and the team's faith in his capabilities.

The San Francisco Giants are determined to navigate through this challenging period and will rely on the recently appointed roster additions to maintain their competitive edge. As the injuries continue to hamper the team, it will be crucial for their newly acquired assets to step up and contribute to the team's success.

As the Giants prepare to take on the Philadelphia Phillies, fans will be watching closely to see how the new additions fare and whether they can help the team navigate through this challenging phase.
