Republican lawmakers from Georgia, led by Rep. Barry Loudermilk, have penned a letter to President Biden blaming his "disastrous" border and immigration policies for the murder of 22-year-old nursing student Laken Riley. Riley was found dead on the University of Georgia campus on February 22, 2024, allegedly killed by an illegal immigrant and Venezuelan national named Jose Antonio Ibarra. The lawmakers demand immediate action from Biden to address the border crisis, highlighting the need for stricter immigration policies to prevent such tragedies.

In the letter obtained by Fox News Digital, Loudermilk and his colleagues criticized Biden for his handling of border security, stating that his policies have had "devastating consequences" and have put American lives at risk. The lawmakers called on Biden to revoke his executive orders and issue new ones to regain control of the U.S. southern border, emphasizing the importance of tackling issues such as the spread of fentanyl and human trafficking.

The Georgia Republican Congressional delegation, including Reps. A. Drew Ferguson IV, Buddy Carter, Rick McCormick, and Marjorie Taylor Greene, expressed their condolences to Riley's family and friends, emphasizing the need for justice and accountability in the case. They urged Biden to act promptly and not wait until his State of the Union address on March 7, 2024, to address the immigration policies.

President Biden is set to visit the U.S. southern border while former President Trump is scheduled to deliver a speech in Texas. Both Biden and Trump have been at odds over border security policies, with Trump also holding Biden responsible for the tragic death of Laken Riley.

The White House offered condolences to Riley's family, stating that those responsible should be held accountable according to the law. With tensions running high over the border crisis and immigration policies, the demands from Georgia Republican lawmakers signal a growing pressure on the Biden administration to take immediate action to secure the nation's borders and prevent further tragedies.
