In a startling incident that unfolded on Saturday, March 16, a Georgia couple on vacation in Daytona Beach found themselves in jail due to their excessive drinking. The couple, both 27 years old, were unable to keep up with their two children, ages 5 and 7, leading to a call to authorities reporting their unconscious state.

According to an arrest affidavit, a Volusia County deputy arrived at the scene and discovered the man and woman surrounded by empty alcohol containers and children's toys. The deputy attempted to wake the man to no avail and even checked for a pulse before resorting to louder methods. Finally, the couple woke up in a confused state.

Asking multiple times if they had children, the deputies were informed that the two kids were somewhere on the beach. However, when asked about the children's specific whereabouts, the man gestured towards the ocean but did not make any further effort to locate them.

Following this troubling revelation, a search was initiated by the deputies. Ultimately, the children - a boy and girl - were found at the Nautilus Inn pool, swimming without any supervision. Subsequently, the couple, who reside northeast of Atlanta, was arrested on charges of child neglect.

Notably, the man, who is not the biological father of the two children, faces additional charges of having alcohol on a Volusia County beach along with attempting to escape. After running from deputies during questioning, he tripped, resulting in him passing out and an ambulance being called.
