A. County, and others. Gatt's legal action comes after he was arrested in April 2022 and charged with allegedly engaging in sexually explicit communication with a minor across state lines. The charges were ultimately dismissed in February.
According to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital, Gatt's lawsuit accuses the defendants of subjecting him to a "thoroughly botched criminal investigation" that resulted in the destruction of his career and reputation. The documents claim that Gatt was publicly labeled as a serial pedophile, causing irreparable damage to his professional life.
The lawsuit specifically names George Gascón, L.A. County, L.A. County Deputy District Attorney Angela Brunson, LAPD Detective Denos Amarantos, and the City of Los Angeles as defendants. Gatt alleges that he was unlawfully arrested, detained, and subjected to an unlawful search and seizure of his property without probable cause.
According to the lawsuit, the alleged actions that led to Gatt's arrest were based on the uncorroborated word of a then-16-year-old fan, referred to as "Jane Doe" in the documents. Gatt claims that he did not know or ever meet Jane Doe. It is mentioned that Jane Doe had an obsession with Gatt, even before any interaction between them occurred. She had reportedly used a naked image of Gatt as her phone's lock screen and allegedly photoshopped a fake tattoo of her name onto his arm.
The lawsuit further reveals that Jane Doe manufactured fake sexual conversations between herself and Gatt on Snapchat using software readily available on the internet. These conversations were allegedly pure fantasy and not initiated by Gatt. It was only after Jane Doe's sister found these fabricated messages and reported them to authorities in Washington that the case was referred to the LA DA and LAPD.
Gatt's lawsuit accuses the defendants of failing to authenticate the evidence against him before his arrest, despite the evidence being highly suspicious. It also claims that Deputy District Attorney Angela Brunson displayed bias and personal animosity towards Gatt due to their differing political beliefs.
The repercussions of the arrest and the subsequent press statement branding Gatt as a serial pedophile were severe. The actor lost professional opportunities, with his agent and PR representatives dropping him and him being fired or recast in several movies. He also received death threats and faced stalking incidents.
Now, Gatt seeks justice and compensation for the damages he has suffered, including the loss of his acting career and personal reputation. The lawsuit specifies that Gatt is seeking over $40 million in damages resulting from the defendants' violation of his constitutional rights.
In response to the lawsuit, Gatt's attorney, Dean Z. Pamphilis, stated that the arrest and charges against his client were based on fabricated evidence. Despite the dismissal of the criminal complaint, Gatt had already endured significant losses to his community, acting career, and personal reputation.
As the legal battle unfolds, Gatt and his legal team aim to expose the truth and recover the damages suffered by the actor.
