In a shocking turn of events, two fugitive squatters, Halley Tejada and Kensly Alston, have been apprehended in Pennsylvania on Friday morning, according to police sources. The arrests come after the grim discovery of 52-year-old Nadia Vitel's body, which was found stuffed in a duffel bag inside her Manhattan apartment.

US Marshals successfully tracked down Tejada, 19, and Alston, 18, in York, located west of Philadelphia, just before 11 a.m. and took them into custody. Their apprehension marks the culmination of an intense manhunt that lasted a little over a week since Vitel's body was uncovered in her late mother's 19th-floor apartment on East 31st Street.

Authorities believe that Tejada and Alston had been squatting in the upscale apartment and that a confrontation between them and Vitel led to her brutal murder. The NYPD stated on Thursday that the victim suffered extensive injuries, including blunt force trauma to the head, multiple facial fractures, a brain bleed, and two broken ribs. Subsequently, her lifeless body was discarded in a duffel bag and concealed within a closet.

Disturbing photos of the crime scene depict the bloodstained closet where Vitel's body was discovered, while another photo shows a massive crack on one of the apartment walls. Surveillance footage captured Tejada and Alston fleeing the scene of the murder and making their getaway in Vitel's Lexus SUV. They escaped through New Jersey into Pennsylvania, where they eventually crashed the vehicle in Lower Paxton Township, according to police.

Law enforcement sources revealed that the fugitives had been using the victim's credit cards in the Keystone State. The motive behind the heinous crime remains unclear at this time, as investigators continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.

Tejada and Alston now face serious charges, including murder and credit card fraud, among others. They will be extradited to New York to face justice for their alleged involvement in the shocking slaying of Nadia Vitel.

As the investigation unfolds, the community mourns the tragic loss of a woman whose life was abruptly cut short, leaving behind unanswered questions and a devastated family seeking closure.
