In a recent development, French prosecutors have reportedly requested rape charges against renowned director Benoît Jacquot. The charges are in connection to allegations made by actresses Isild Le Besco and Julia Roy, as reported by French media. Jacquot was taken into police custody for questioning on Monday, while the prosecutors have yet to press charges related to actress and director Judith Godrèche's complaint.

The accusations against Jacquot have stirred controversy within the French film industry. Godrèche was the first actress to come forward, filing an official complaint against the director last February. She opened up about her relationship with Jacquot in the late 1980s when she was only 14 years old, and he was 40. Godrèche alleges that she was under Jacquot's control during their relationship, and she has now condemned it, filing a complaint of "rape with constraint."

Encouraged by Godrèche's courageous step, Le Besco filed a legal complaint in May after publishing her autobiography. In her book titled "Dire Vrai," Le Besco accused Jacquot of having a "destructive hold" over her. She claimed that their relationship began when she was 16 and he was 52, during the production of his 2000 film Sade. Le Besco detailed how Jacquot took over her life throughout the shoot, describing his actions as a violation of both her mind and body.

In a separate incident, director Jacques Doillon was also taken into police custody on Monday for questioning in relation to a complaint made by Godrèche. The complaint alleges "rape with violence" by Doillon, stemming from his behavior on and off the set of the 1989 film The 15 Year Old Girl.

Jacquot's lawyer confirmed that the director has been allowed to return home after being detained, but prosecutors have not yet made a decision on the case. Jacquot has vehemently denied all the allegations leveled against him.
