In an exhilarating display of talent and determination, Frederick Richard emerged victorious at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Trials, securing his place in the highly anticipated Tokyo Olympic Games. The 20-year-old gymnast from Stoughton, Massachusetts, showcased incredible skills and composure throughout the competition, ultimately clinching an impressive all-around win with a total score of 170.500.

Richard's outstanding performance not only earned him a well-deserved ticket to Paris, his first Olympic Games, but also heightened the hopes of the United States team. As the team aims to bring home an Olympic team medal for the first time since 2008, Richard confidently declared, "You can expect from me and the team some medals in Paris. Our team is coming home with medals."

Joining Richard in representing Team USA will be three-time national champion Brody Malone, whose journey to Paris seemed uncertain after a devastating knee injury just over a year ago. Malone, showing immense resilience and determination, secured a second-place finish all-around with a score of 170.300, earning his second Olympic team selection.

In a pleasant surprise, Paul Juda and Asher Hong, both 2022 world team bronze medalists, were named as first-time Olympians. Juda, overwhelmed with emotion, embraced the crowd's support before expressing his gratitude, stating, "I had only one goal, and it was to hit all of my routines and leave here healthy. So now I get to do that and more! Go Team USA!"

Hong, who faced a challenging competition at the U.S. Championships where he finished 10th all-around, showcased an impressive comeback, securing his spot on the team. With a stellar start on the final day of competition, Hong performed a Ri Se-Gwang vault, attaining a remarkable score of 15.250, almost a full point higher than his first day's performance. Hong's determination to excel and prove himself made a significant impact on his Olympic team prospects.

Notably, three-time world medalist Khoi Young and Tokyo Olympian Shane Wiskus were named as traveling alternates for the team, ready to step in if necessary.

As the trials progressed, Richard continued to shine, beginning the final day with a fantastic performance on the parallel bars, earning a commendable score of 14.800. His consistent display of skill and determination has solidified his position as a formidable contender and a potential medal winner in the upcoming Olympic Games.

With the final selections made and Team USA complete, anticipation and excitement continue to grow as these talented gymnasts prepare to represent their country on the prestigious Olympic stage. The remarkable performances and unwavering spirits displayed during the trials have set the stage for an unforgettable competition in Paris.
