According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, this rookie contract extension could potentially reach a staggering $269 million, making it a maximum deal.

Wagner, who averaged an impressive 19.7 points per game last season, is an instrumental player for the Magic, second only to teammate Paolo Banchero. Alongside his scoring prowess, Wagner contributes with 5.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game.

A model of consistency, Wagner has showcased his dedication to the team by rarely missing games. In his three seasons with the Magic, he has only sat out 15 games, accumulating over 7,000 minutes of playing time. Last season alone, he averaged 32 minutes per game, further solidifying his importance to the team.

Selected as the eighth overall pick in the 2021 draft, Wagner quickly established himself as a vital starter for the Magic. His impressive performance on the court led to his recognition as a member of the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2022. Throughout that season, he averaged 15.2 points and 31 minutes per game.

What sets Wagner apart is that he is joined by his brother, Mo Wagner, on the Magic roster. Among the 13 sets of brothers in the NBA, the Wagner brothers, along with Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo and Brook and Robin Lopez, are part of the unique trio playing for the same team. This sibling duo brings a strong bond and chemistry to the court for the Magic.

Not only has Wagner made waves in the NBA, but he also helped lead Germany to gold at the 2023 FIBA World Cup last summer. Additionally, his remarkable performance during the tournament earned him a place on the All-Tournament Second Team. Looking ahead, both Wagner brothers are expected to represent Germany at the upcoming Olympics in Paris this summer, further displaying their talent on an international stage.

With this lucrative contract extension, the Magic are making a clear statement about their commitment to building a competitive team around Franz Wagner. The young forward's scoring ability, consistent presence on the court, and his contributions to both club and country have undoubtedly made him a key figure for the Magic's future success.
