FOX has been tasked with creating the platform for the upcoming sports streaming joint venture involving FOX, Walt Disney's ESPN, and Warner Bros. Discovery. As revealed by Wall Street Journal media reporter Joe Flint in a recent tweet, the platform will be modeled after News Corp.'s Kayo Sports platform, a live sports subscription streaming service co-owned by News Corp. and Australian telecom company Telstra.

During FOX's fiscal second-quarter earnings call, CEO Lachlan Murdoch expressed enthusiasm after viewing early versions of the platform. While a FOX spokesperson was not immediately available for comment, the development of the platform suggests it may not be closely integrated with Hulu, though specific capabilities remain uncertain.

The collaboration among FOX, ESPN, and Warner Bros. Discovery has already caused a stir in the streaming and pay-TV industry, eliciting concerns from competitors like Fubo. Cable companies and sports leagues are reviewing their contracts to gauge any potential conflicts arising from the joint venture. The Justice Department will conduct a review once the service is more formalized, addressing any anti-trust concerns.
