In an announcement that was long-anticipated by fans, Fox has officially confirmed that the hit drama series "9-1-1: Lone Star" will be ending with its upcoming Season 5. The final season, consisting of 12 action-packed episodes, is set to premiere on September 23, 2024, with the highly-anticipated series finale scheduled for early 2025.

Lead actor Rob Lowe had previously alluded to the show's conclusion in an interview back in August, expressing his belief that Season 5 would be the last. Now, with Fox's confirmation, the cast and crew have approached the final season with a sense of purpose. "We all went into it pretty much knowing that it was going to be the last season, so that affected everything we did," Lowe explained in his interview with Variety. He further added, "We wanted to really show everybody what is still possible in network television if people have the appetite to do it."

The decision to wrap up "9-1-1: Lone Star" comes as no surprise, as its companion series, "9-1-1," made a move to ABC from Fox earlier this year. Both shows are produced by 20th Television, which became a part of Disney following the merger with 21st Century Fox. Since then, Fox Entertainment has been focused on owning or co-owning its shows entirely.

Michael Thorn, President of Fox Television Network, expressed his gratitude towards the show's creative team, including Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, for bringing the heroic and emotionally charged stories of the Austin's 126 to life. Thorn stated, "From the start, fans have followed the heroic and deeply moving stories of the men and women who make up Austin's 126, so a huge thanks to one of the greatest creative teams in all of television... Now in our final season of the show, we're set to give it the high-stakes send-off it deserves, complete with breathless rescues, insurmountable odds, and relatable personal struggles, thanks to our incomparable, stellar cast led by Rob Lowe and Gina Torres."

Produced in association with Ryan Murphy Television and Brad Falchuk Teley-Vision, "9-1-1: Lone Star" has garnered critical acclaim and a dedicated fan base. The series creators, Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, also serve as executive producers and writers. Additionally, executive producer Bradley Buecker directed the series premiere. The team of Rashad Raisani, John J. Gray, Angela Bassett, Rob Lowe, Carly Soteras, and Wolfe Coleman contribute as executive producers.

With the final season looming, fans can expect a thrilling and heartfelt conclusion as "9-1-1: Lone Star" bids farewell to the connected lives of brave first responders in Austin, Texas.
