In a shocking turn of events, a former employee of Kanye West's design company, Yeezy, has filed a lawsuit against the renowned artist, claiming severe discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. The lawsuit, obtained by Page Six, also alleges disturbing incidents involving West's now-shuttered school, Donda Academy.
According to the documents, Trevor Phillips, the former Yeezy employee, stated that West threatened to shave the heads of students at Donda Academy and even mentioned plans to lock them in cages. Phillips further claimed that West openly expressed antisemitic views in front of the students and allegedly endorsed conspiracy theories.
The lawsuit highlights an instance where West reportedly told two children that he intended to shave their heads and expressed his desire to introduce a jail at the school. Moreover, Phillips alleged that during a dinner at Nobu Malibu in December 2022, West made disparaging comments about Jewish people, praising Adolf Hitler and denying the Holocaust.
In addition to the allegations of discrimination and bigotry, Phillips also accused West of engaging in inappropriate conduct and displaying apparent arousal on multiple occasions. He described a meeting focused on the academy's curriculum and horticulture that ultimately turned into an antisemitic rant coupled with sexual harassment.
Furthermore, the lawsuit reveals that West allegedly made threats towards the LGBTQ community during a dinner, claiming to target the community after the Jewish population. Phillips claimed that West also made baseless assertions about Bill Gates controlling homosexuals.
Phillips, who is African American, also accused West of treating black employees significantly worse than their white counterparts. He claimed that West compelled a black campus security guard to shave his dreadlocks under the threat of termination, causing the guard to ultimately resign.
The lawsuit states that Phillips was fired by West during one of his Sunday Services in May 2023. The disgruntled former employee hopes that this lawsuit will bring justice to the affected individuals and serve as a message to West that the alleged messages of discrimination, antisemitism, and admiration for Hitler have no place in society.
Carney R. Shegerian, Phillips' attorney, expressed their intention to vindicate their client's rights through this lawsuit. Phillips is seeking general and special damages exceeding $35,000, along with attorneys' fees. Additionally, he is requesting an injunction to prevent West from opening any educational institution for children under 18 in California.
The allegations made in this lawsuit shed light on disturbing behavior and ideologies attributed to a prominent artist. As the legal battle unfolds, the world awaits Kanye West's response and the resolution of this highly contentious lawsuit.
