In an exciting announcement on Monday, Larry Hryb, popularly known as "Major Nelson," revealed his next venture after leaving Microsoft last year. Hryb will be joining Unity's Community team, as he continues to make his mark in the gaming industry.

During his time at Microsoft, Hryb played a significant role as a public face for the Xbox brand. Hosting the Official Xbox Podcast and engaging with a vast following on X, he became an influential figure in the gaming community. Now, Hryb will be taking on the role of "Director of Community" at Unity, as per his LinkedIn profile.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the new opportunity, Hryb emphasized the alignment between Unity's mission and his own passion for innovation and community building. Unity is renowned for its tools that empower creators worldwide to unleash their creative potential and achieve business success in various domains, including games, apps, and experiences.

The addition of Hryb to Unity's team comes at a crucial time for the company. Last year, Unity faced criticism from developers due to a pricing scheme change that was later revised in response to backlash. The departure of former CEO John Riccitiello was also announced shortly after, and in May, Unity introduced Matthew Bromberg, a former Zynga and EA executive, as its new CEO.

Furthermore, Unity had to announce employee layoffs in January, affecting approximately 25 percent of its workforce. With Hryb on board, Unity aims to rebuild its reputation and strengthen its position as a leading platform for creators.

As Hryb settles into his new role, he is poised to collaborate with talented developers and creators who utilize Unity's tools to bring their visions to life. Together, they will continue to revolutionize the storytelling experience and enhance the way interactive experiences are shared.

Hryb's move to Unity signals a new chapter in his career, allowing him to contribute his vast industry knowledge and engage with a broader community of creators. The gaming world eagerly anticipates the positive impact he will bring to Unity's evolving ecosystem.
