Former professional wrestler Michael Jones, known by his ring names Virgil and Vincent, has passed away at the age of 61. The news of his death was confirmed by wrestling referee Mark Charles III, known professionally as The Count, in a message on social media on Wednesday. Jones, who was born in Pennsylvania, began his wrestling career in the mid-1980s under the name Soul Train Jones. He gained recognition for his work in the World Wresting Federation (WWF) during the 1980s and 1990s under the name Virgil. After leaving the WWF in 1994, he went on to work for the World Championship Wrestling (WCW) as Vincent. Jones retired from wrestling in 2000 due to injury. In 2022, he disclosed that he was battling dementia and colon cancer and had suffered strokes. Tributes from fellow wrestlers, including WWE Hall of Fame inductee Jake "The Snake" Roberts, have poured in following the news of his passing.Virgil was remembered as a beloved figure in the wrestling community, with messages of condolence and remembrance circulating on social media.
