Former NFL Player Arrested for Disorderly Conduct on Flight to Dublin

A former NFL player, Gosder Cherilus, has been arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly hitting a man and urinating on a woman during a flight from Boston to Dublin. The incident took place on a Delta flight, which was forced to return to Logan International Airport in Massachusetts.

Cherilus, who was a first-round pick for the Detroit Lions in 2008 and also played for the Indianapolis Colts and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was taken into custody early on Sunday. Massachusetts State Police reported that Cherilus became irate and uncooperative when ordered to leave the plane. He was subsequently charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing a flight crew.

According to the police report, Cherilus appeared to be intoxicated when he boarded the plane. He allegedly argued with the flight crew about his seat and, approximately an hour into the flight, proceeded to urinate on an elderly woman. He then got into an altercation with another passenger before taking their seat and eventually passing out.

Cherilus was arraigned on Monday in East Boston District Court. Judge DelVecchio addressed the seriousness of the allegations against him, stating, "It's pretty egregious what you did, as alleged."

In a post on social media, Cherilus issued an apology to the passengers and flight crew, explaining that he had taken a sleeping medication that he does not typically use, which led to his inappropriate behavior.

Delta, the airline involved in the incident, confirmed the presence of an "unruly customer" and expressed their cooperation with law enforcement in handling the situation. The other passengers were later flown to Dublin, but the extent of the flight delay was not disclosed by the airline.

Delta also emphasized their zero-tolerance policy for unlawful behavior and issued an apology to their customers for any inconvenience caused by the incident. They assured passengers that they are dedicated to ensuring a safe and comfortable travel experience.
