In a concerning update, former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Steve McMichael has been admitted to the hospital once again, according to Jarrett Payton, the son of his former teammate, Walter Payton. McMichael, who was recently voted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, is undergoing tests while bravely battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

This is not the first hospitalization for the 66-year-old football legend. In February of this year, McMichael spent over a week in the hospital due to multiple health issues. The details of his current condition have not been disclosed, but Payton has requested prayers for his recovery and well-being.

McMichael's illustrious football career spanned 13 seasons with the Chicago Bears, where he became a key figure in the legendary 1985 Bears defense, widely regarded as one of the best in NFL history. Following his tenure with the Bears, he spent his final NFL season with the Green Bay Packers before retiring.

Unfortunately, in 2021 McMichael received a devastating diagnosis of ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Despite the challenges posed by the progressive neurodegenerative disease, McMichael continued to display immense resilience and determination.

His long-awaited induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame finally came in February of this year when he was voted in as a senior finalist. The honor was a testament to his outstanding contributions to the sport and recognition of his remarkable career.

Fans and the football community will undoubtedly be hoping for McMichael's swift recovery and sending their thoughts and prayers to the former Bear during this difficult time.
