**Tortilla Chip Salad Topper Recalled in 20 States for Wheat Contamination**
A leading food company has initiated a recall of its tortilla chip salad topper after discovering the presence of a wheat allergen, posing a severe risk to consumers with wheat allergies or sensitivities. According to a statement from the FDA, individuals with a wheat allergy could face significant health threats, including severe or life-threatening reactions, if they consume the affected product.
The recall concerns Tortilla Strips that were distributed between September 30, 2024, and November 11, 2024. The products were shipped to distribution centers across 20 states, including Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
Customers who purchased the recalled Tortilla Strips are urged to return them to their place of purchase for a full refund or to dispose of them immediately.
This recall is part of a broader series of food safety alerts. Organic carrots sold at major grocery stores such as Trader Joe's and Wegmans have also been recalled due to a potential E. coli contamination. In a separate incident, an infant tragically died, and 10 others fell ill due to a listeria outbreak linked to ready-to-eat meat from Yu Shang Food, Inc. based in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
