### Florida Man Sues Disney Over Serious Injuries from Water Park Ride
A Florida resident, Eugene Strickland, has taken legal action against Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, asserting that he sustained significant injuries after experiencing a water slide at Disney's Blizzard Beach water park in July 2021. The lawsuit, seeking $50,000 in damages, was filed on May 29 in Orange County, Florida.
Strickland, who weighed 334 pounds during the incident—exceeding the ride's weight limit by 34 pounds—claims he suffered "permanent catastrophic injuries" on the Downhill Double Dipper (DDD). Described on Disney's website as a high-speed attraction, the ride boasts of thrilling plunges and darkness before a dramatic splashdown.
According to the lawsuit, Strickland was dislodged from his inner tube due to the ride's fast pace. This led to a severe impact with the slide's plastic surface, resulting in injuries such as disability, scarring, and disfigurement. Additionally, he cites mental anguish and a diminished capacity for enjoying life as a result of the accident.
Strickland argues that Disney bears responsibility for his injuries, alleging that the theme park failed to warn him about the potential dangers associated with the ride. Consequently, he is demanding compensation and has requested a jury trial to resolve the case.
