**Florida Gators Secure Monumental Win Against Ole Miss, Boosting FPI Rankings**

In a surprising turn of events, the Florida Gators triumphed over the No. 9 ranked Ole Miss Rebels with a 24-17 victory at home this past Saturday. This win marks the sixth of the 2024 season for the Gators and has created a buzz not only among their fans but also in the wider sports media landscape.

Despite going into the game with odds heavily favoring Lane Kiffin’s squad, the contest was evenly matched for the first three quarters. The decisive moment came in the fourth quarter when the Gators scored a touchdown, the only points by either team in that period, clinching a significant victory.

The success has given a substantial boost to the Gators in ESPN’s Football Power Index (FPI). Following this win, Florida’s FPI ranking rose one spot to No. 25, with their overall rating increasing from 10.5 to 11.6. They now find themselves ranked between the No. 24 Colorado Buffaloes and No. 26 Iowa State Cyclones.

Under head coach Billy Napier, the Gators have now reached the crucial six-win mark for the season. The FPI indicates an 82.4% chance of Florida winning their final game, a significant jump from a previous 18.6%. However, their chances of winning the conference, making it to the College Football Playoffs, or clinching the national title remain at zero.

Within the Southeastern Conference (SEC), several teams maintain high rankings in the FPI. The Texas Longhorns lead with a 26.5 rating, followed by the Alabama Crimson Tide at fourth with 24.3, and the Georgia Bulldogs at fifth with 22.5. Ole Miss, despite their defeat, hold the sixth spot with a 22.4 rating.

Rounding out the top ten from the SEC are the Tennessee Volunteers in eighth place with a rating of 20.5. Further down the rankings, the Texas A&M Aggies stood 15th at 14.4, South Carolina Gamecocks 16th at 14.3, LSU Tigers 19th at 12.8, Missouri Tigers 21st at 12.0, and the Oklahoma Sooners 23rd also at 12.0. Florida occupies the 25th spot with an 11.6 rating.

Following Florida are the Auburn Tigers ranked 29th with a 9.7 rating, Arkansas Razorbacks 32nd at 8.2, Vanderbilt Commodores 38th at 6.8, Kentucky Wildcats 42nd at 6.0, and Mississippi State Bulldogs 70th with a -0.9 rating.

Florida concludes their 2024 regular season in Tallahassee with their highly anticipated annual rivalry game against the Florida State Seminoles. The game will be held at Doak Campbell Stadium with a kickoff time slated for either 7 or 7:30 p.m. ET, though the broadcast details are yet to be finalized.
