In response to the upcoming spring break season, Governor Ron DeSantis has announced that Florida is taking proactive measures to maintain law and order across the state. Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) will be mobilizing manpower and tactical assets to popular spring break destinations such as Miami Beach, Daytona Beach, and Panama City Beach.

Governor DeSantis emphasized that while Florida is a popular destination for spring break, it does not tolerate criminal activity. He has directed state law enforcement agencies to provide additional personnel and resources to local entities to ensure peace and security during the spring break period.

Florida's tourism industry has experienced significant growth under Governor DeSantis' leadership, making it a top destination for both relocation and vacation. However, alongside this growth, the state remains committed to maintaining law and order. Dave Kerner, Executive Director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, stated that state troopers will be deployed to assist local law enforcement in safeguarding residents and visitors.

FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass expressed gratitude for Governor DeSantis' commitment to ensuring the safety of Florida's residents and guests. He highlighted that numerous FDLE members will be working closely with local agencies throughout the spring break season, offering support through resource mobilization, investigations, and analytical research.

Earlier this year, at Governor DeSantis' direction, Florida Highway Patrol extended assistance to law enforcement agencies across the state. So far, 17 law enforcement agencies have requested a total of 140 state troopers to bolster their jurisdictions during spring break. Additionally, FHP will deploy 24 Quick Response Troopers in Bay, Volusia, Broward, and Dade counties to swiftly respond to incidents requiring additional personnel.

In Miami Beach, specific enforcement measures will be implemented to ensure public safety. These will include curfews, security searches, bag checks, and early beach closures. Uniformed officers will patrol the area in vehicles, on ATVs, bicycles, and on foot. Barricades, DUI checkpoints, and parking and lane closures will also be utilized.

By taking these proactive steps, Florida aims to ensure a safe and enjoyable spring break experience for all residents and visitors. The deployment of additional law enforcement personnel and assets demonstrates the state's commitment to maintaining law and order during this peak tourism period.
