### Florence Opens Up About PCOS, Endometriosis, and Decision to Freeze Her Eggs
Florence, a 28-year-old actor, has recently shared her personal journey with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and endometriosis, two health conditions that deeply affect fertility. She discussed her experiences on the Dear Media's SHE MD podcast, offering a candid look at her health concerns and the proactive steps she has taken.
Reflecting on what prompted her to seek medical advice, Florence mentioned an intuitive feeling that something was wrong. "I had this sudden feeling that I should go and get everything checked. I'd had a few weird dreams; I think my body was telling me," she said. Upon visiting her doctor, she was advised to undergo an egg count, a suggestion she initially found surprising given her young age.
It was during this egg count that Florence was diagnosed with both PCOS and endometriosis. These conditions are known to interfere with fertility, making it harder for women to conceive. Her doctor recommended that she freeze her eggs, advice that Florence described as "bizarre," especially considering her family's history of having children into their 40s.
"My mom had babies into her 40s... And then, of course, I learned completely different information at age 27, that I need to get my eggs out and do it quickly," Florence shared. The realization was overwhelming yet timely, as she has always envisioned having children.
Despite experiencing symptoms of PCOS earlier, Florence had attributed them to the normal stresses and experiences of being a woman. "I just thought that was part of being a woman, and also living a maybe slightly stressful life. I didn't think constant weight fluctuation would also be a part of it," she revealed.
Florence touched on her struggles with the public's perception of her weight, which has been a sensitive issue for her. "It was painful to see people online make nasty comments about my weight," she admitted, opening up about how people's lack of understanding can add to the difficulty of managing these health issues.
This newfound knowledge has necessitated significant lifestyle changes for Florence, emphasizing the importance of education on these conditions at a younger age. "It wouldn't be that hard to educate everybody on this when you're at school. It's something that will be the defining factor of whether you can have children or not," she remarked.
Florence hopes that by sharing her story, she can raise awareness about PCOS and endometriosis, encouraging young women to be proactive about their health. For the full, heartfelt discussion, you can listen to Florence's appearance on the SHE MD podcast.
