"The West Wing" Stars and Producers Celebrate 25th Anniversary at White House Event

In a momentous celebration of the iconic TV series "The West Wing," key stars and producers of the show are set to attend a special event at the White House hosted by First Lady Jill Biden. The event, organized by the Office of the First Lady, aims to honor the 25th anniversary of Warner Bros. TV's "The West Wing," which originally premiered on September 22, 1999, on NBC.

Creator and executive producer Aaron Sorkin, along with director and executive producer Thomas Schlamme, will be in attendance, alongside acclaimed stars Martin Sheen, Richard Schiff, Dulé Hill, Janel Moloney, Emily Procter, Melissa Fitzgerald, and Mary McCormack. Reflecting back on the show's early days, Sorkin expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be invited to the White House, acknowledging the uncertainty they faced when the series first started.

Adding to the esteemed guest list are Warner Bros. Television Group chairman/CEO Channing Dungey and Warner Bros. Television president Brett Paul, who will be joining "The West Wing" team at the event. Dungey highlighted the impact of the show, stating how it continues to inspire individuals to pursue careers in public service and community involvement even after 25 years.

While President Joe Biden won't be able to attend the celebration, Dr. Jill Biden will deliver her remarks as part of the event. This follows the recent reunion of Sheen, Hill, Moloney, Schiff, and Allison Janney at the 76th Emmys, where they appeared on a replica set of "The West Wing" oval office and playfully commented on the current political climate.

"The West Wing" captivated audiences with its portrayal of President Josiah "Jed" Bartlet, played by Martin Sheen. The star-studded cast also included Dulé Hill as Bartlet's personal aide Charlie Young, Janel Moloney as senior assistant Donna Moss, Richard Schiff as communications director Toby Ziegler, Emily Procter as associate White House counsel Ainsley Hayes, Melissa Fitzgerald as Carol Fitzpatrick (assistant to press secretary C.J. Cregg), and Mary McCormack as deputy national security advisor and ex-CIA officer Kate Harper.

Notably absent from the White House event will be Allison Janney as press secretary C.J. Cregg, Bradley Whitford as deputy chief of staff Josh Lyman, the late John Spencer as White House Chief of Staff Leo McGarry, and Rob Lowe as Samuel Seaborn, deputy communications director.
