Fans of the Final Fantasy franchise have been eagerly awaiting news about the next installment in the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. Excitement peaked when the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Ultimania book was recently released in Japan, offering fans a closer look at the RPG and tantalizing details about the upcoming Part 3.

According to reliable translator Audrey from Aitai Japan, who has been sharing fascinating snippets from the Ultimania on Twitter, it has been revealed that the main story for Part 3 of the Remake trilogy has already been fully completed. Co-director Tetsuya Nomura expressed his optimism that voice recording for the next RPG might begin in the near future, indicating that progress is well underway.

Yoshinori Kitase, the Rebirth producer and original director of Final Fantasy 7, shed light on the efficient development of Rebirth. Despite a four-year wait after the release of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Rebirth was completed in just three years, with one year dedicated to the Remake DLC. Kitase expressed his hope for Part 3 to follow a similarly streamlined schedule.

Maintaining continuity in production, Square Enix retained the same staff from Remake for Rebirth, which contributed to the efficient development process. This strategy is set to be repeated for the third game, which bodes well for its timely completion.

Interestingly, back in September 2023, Nomura stated that there were no plans for Rebirth to receive any DLC. If Square Enix sticks to its original word, this suggests that fans may get their hands on the next game sooner than expected.

Speculation arises as to whether Part 3 may be released in approximately three years, given the previous development timeline. However, it is important not to get too ahead of ourselves without any official announcements. Specifics regarding milestones and production timelines for the game are still lacking.

Rebirth co-director Naoki Hamaguchi stated in February that they are currently in a similar situation with Part 3 as they were with Rebirth at the end of Remake's development. Given the four-year gap between Remake and Rebirth, it is possible that a similar waiting period may occur if there is still significant work to be done, especially considering the absence of planned DLC.

As fans eagerly await further updates, they can find solace in knowing that the main story for Part 3 has been completed, and progress is being made towards its voice recording stage. Only time will tell when the epic conclusion of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy will grace our gaming consoles.
