In the early hours of March 9, a woman lost her life and a man was injured during a shooting incident that occurred at an unauthorized party in southwest San Antonio, according to Texas officials. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar addressed the media in a Facebook livestream, providing details about the tragic event.

Authorities responded to a call reporting a shooting at a former Knights of Columbus hall that was being used for a "rave-type party." Sheriff Salazar expressed concern about the building's occupancy, noting that it was not supposed to be occupied and that utilities, such as water and electricity, had been illegally connected.

The event was promoted on social media platforms, drawing a large crowd to the location. Witnesses described the building as "packed" when the gunfire erupted. While the exact cause leading to the shooting remains unclear, Sheriff Salazar revealed that there was a disagreement between two or more groups in attendance.

Tragically, a 21-year-old woman was shot and pronounced dead at the scene. A 29-year-old man also sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. An alarming detail emerged as accounts from witnesses revealed a disturbing response. While the woman lay dying, individuals present at the party reportedly chose to record her final moments instead of rendering aid. Sheriff Salazar condemned their actions, describing the act as "cold-blooded and disturbing."

Although numerous people were present at the illegal gathering, only around 20 witnesses remained when deputies arrived at the scene. Sheriff Salazar expressed frustration over their lack of cooperation, stating that they had not provided sufficient information about the incident. He urged any additional witnesses to come forward and speak with investigators or share any video footage they might have captured.

Authorities currently do not have information regarding the number of shooters involved, leaving open the possibility of multiple assailants. Sheriff Salazar confirmed the existence of video evidence from the party and anticipates it will provide valuable insights into the incident.

At the scene, law enforcement detained one individual who returned later to search for a cell phone. His pants were also seized as potential evidence due to the presence of what appeared to be blood stains. However, Sheriff Salazar clarified that there is no indication of his involvement in the shooting at this stage.

Authorities are now calling on the public's assistance in their investigation. Anyone with information regarding the shooting is urged to contact the Bexar County Sheriff's Office at 210-335-6000.

As the investigation unfolds, the tragic loss of life and the circumstances surrounding this illegal party shooting highlight the urgency to address public safety concerns and ensure the responsible hosting of events throughout the community.
