Following the recent altercation at UFC 300 involving fan Obed Ardon and fighter Arman Tsarukyan, it has been revealed that Ardon has no intention of pursuing legal action against the UFC. This news comes as a relief for UFC President Dana White, who expressed concerns about potential lawsuits.
In an interview with Bloody Elbow, Ardon clarified his stance, stating, "I will not sue. That never crossed my mind. My primary concern was not getting kicked out of the event." Ardon's statement indicates that he does not hold any intention of pursuing legal recourse against the UFC in regards to the incident.
The altercation, which was captured during Tsarukyan's walkout on the UFC 300 pay-per-view broadcast, saw the fighter throw a punch into the crowd. Fortunately, Tsarukyan's punch missed its intended target. Ardon took the opportunity to explain the circumstances surrounding the incident while expressing regret for his own actions.
Ardon acknowledged, "I'd like to apologize to Arman for provoking him by flipping him off. I was highly excited throughout the day, and the moment got the better of me. Attending a live UFC event for the first time was an incredible experience. I'm relieved that the incident did not escalate further."
The fan also clarified that he did not physically engage with Tsarukyan, yell offensive words, or instigate any form of aggression other than flipping him off. Ardon concluded his statement by congratulating Tsarukyan on his performance and offering best wishes for his future fights, possibly including a title shot.
Tsarukyan went on to secure a close split decision victory against former champion Charles Oliveira at UFC 300. This win positions him favorably for a title shot, potentially against the winner of the upcoming match between Islam Makhachev and Dustin Poirier, scheduled for June 1 at UFC 302.
As the situation comes to a close without legal repercussions, the UFC can now breathe a sigh of relief. However, this incident serves as a reminder of the need for fans and fighters to maintain respect and sportsmanship in the highly charged environment of live combat sports events.
