Sources with direct knowledge of the matter have revealed that during this visit, Musk is likely to make an announcement regarding plans to invest in and establish a new Tesla factory in the country. The visit is anticipated to take place during the week of April 22 in the capital city of New Delhi.

For several years, Tesla has been keen on entering the Indian automotive market. However, the company faced challenges due to the country's protectionist efforts, including high import duties on vehicles. While the Indian government had expressed its preference for Tesla to manufacture vehicles locally, the automaker initially aimed to establish its presence through importing vehicles before committing to a manufacturing facility.
