England's national football team received a special treat as singer Ed Sheeran performed a private concert for them on Monday at their base in Blankenhain. The performance came as part of the team's preparations for their upcoming Euro 2024 quarterfinal match against Switzerland on Saturday.

Following their thrilling extra-time victory over Slovakia in the round-of-16, which saw goals from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane secure a 2-1 win for England, manager Gareth Southgate's squad engaged in a light recovery session on Monday. Sheeran, who had been in attendance during the previous match in Gelsenkirchen, then made his way to the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land, where England are currently staying, to entertain the players and staff.

Southgate has emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between work and relaxation within the camp. This includes allowing the players' families to visit on occasion after matches during the group stage. This isn't the first time England has been treated to a private performance from a renowned artist at a major tournament. During the previous edition of the Euros, Sheeran also serenaded the squad at St George's Park, while Robbie Williams dropped by during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

In other news, England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford provided an update on the injury-plagued Luke Shaw. The left-back has not yet featured in Euro 2024 due to his fitness concerns, with Kieran Trippier filling in his position. However, Pickford reassured fans that Shaw is ready to contribute if called upon.

"He was ready to come on [against Slovakia], but I'm not the manager," Pickford stated. "He's ready. Luke says he's ready."

As the England team receives a boost from the musical talents of Ed Sheeran, they aim to continue their winning streak in the upcoming clash against Switzerland. Fans eagerly await the quarterfinal showdown, hoping that the team can replicate their success and advance further in the tournament.
