Passengers on an easyJet flight from Greece to the UK experienced a frightening ordeal when a vape device exploded inside a carry-on bag, leading to the evacuation of the aircraft using emergency slides. The incident took place on flight EZY8261 from Heraklion, Crete, as passengers were preparing to depart for London.

Malachi Griffith, a passenger on the flight, recounted hearing "fizzing noises" and noticing smoke emerging from the front of the plane. The situation escalated when a girl rushed down the aisle with a smoking bag, followed by a cracking sound as flames erupted, sparking panic among those onboard.

In response to the incident, easyJet confirmed the evacuation was prompted by a fire originating in a passenger's cabin bag. Following standard procedures, the cabin crew swiftly evacuated the aircraft while fire services attended to the situation. Passengers were then taken care of in the terminal as arrangements were made for a replacement aircraft and crew to ensure their safe journey home later the same day.

Safety remains a top priority for easyJet, as emphasized in their official statement addressing the incident. The airline expressed their commitment to ensuring the well-being of all passengers and crew members, highlighting the importance of adhering to safety protocols in unforeseen circumstances.
