Violence marred the Easter Sunday evening as a large group of teenagers gathered at The Banks in Over-the-Rhine, resulting in multiple fistfights and reports of weapons being drawn. The chaotic scene escalated when more than a dozen shots rang out later in the evening.

The disturbances began around 8:30 pm, just moments after a Reds game had concluded nearby. One police officer reported seeing the fights unfolding in the middle of Rosa Parks Street. As the situation escalated, additional officers were called from various districts, with District 1 offering their assistance. "We got about three or four hundred kids out here," an officer informed the dispatcher.

During the chaos, a portion of the group sought refuge inside the popular restaurant, Moerlein Lager House. Authorities received a distress call reporting that the group had forcefully entered the establishment, causing further concerns for public safety. Meanwhile, on-site police observed the group's resurgence in violent behavior. Efforts were made to guide the teens northwards, away from The Banks area, along Walnut Street. "If we can keep the crowd moving toward Government Square. Hopefully, they get on the bus," an officer strategized as the police coordinated their actions.

Officers stationed at Government Square eagerly awaited updates on how close the crowd was as their colleagues from other locations kept them informed. "There's a mob of them coming up between Third and Fourth right now," an officer relayed.

Eventually, the crowd began to disperse, although a few juveniles were taken into custody. It remains unclear whether any arrests were made. However, the disturbance was far from over – shortly after, gunshots were reported near 14th Street, farther up Walnut Street. Fortunately, police confirmed that no one appeared to be injured, but eyewitnesses claimed to have heard gunfire resembling that of a machine gun.

Violence and unrest on a holiday evening came as a striking blow to the tranquil atmosphere in The Banks and Over-the-Rhine areas. Authorities are actively investigating the incident, aiming to bring those responsible to justice and ensure the safety of the community.
