Wake Forest fans added injury to insult when they stormed the court following the Demon Deacons' 83-79 upset victory over No. 8 Duke on Saturday afternoon. The court was flooded with black, white, and gold attire after the final buzzer, and Duke star Kyle Filipowski had to be helped off the court due to an ankle sprain.

During the chaos of fans rushing the court, Filipowski was involved in an incident where a fan made contact with him, causing him to need assistance from Duke staff to leave the court. Head coach Jon Scheyer expressed concern over court storming incidents, calling for an end to the practice due to safety issues. ESPN's Chris Spatola and analyst Jay Bilas also spoke out against court storming, citing the risk of injuries to players.

Notably, the Southeastern Conference fines schools for court storming, with fines ranging from $100,000 to $500,000 for repeat offenses. Despite these penalties, recent incidents, including South Carolina fans storming the court in January and LSU being fined $100,000 this week, highlight the ongoing challenge of preventing such occurrences.

Calls for increased measures to prevent court storming continue to echo across the sports community, emphasizing the need for enhanced safety protocols in post-game celebrations.
